When "Only Murders in the Building" co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short are in each other’s presence they share a unique chemistry. There’s a clearly defined yin and yang to their comedic exchanges.
"The banter has become very natural," says Short, 74, while at a tour stop in Nashville. "When you think of close friendships, they razz each other. Due to our long history of working together, there’s an ease because we are constantly in each other’s energy. I think that shows on stage."

Despite being elder statesmen, no luster has come off their fastball. The angsty bromance continues with both zip and a fair amount of chop breaking.

"Steve will say, ‘I love touring with Marty because there’s no paparazzi,’ ” says Short. "I’ll respond, ‘Steve, you look fantastic, but I guess that’s the benefit of looking 70 since you were 30.’ ”

These comedy legends will together headline LIU Post’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville on Oct. 19. This is one of dozens of live stand-up comedy shows happening throughout both Nassau and Suffolk. Here’s a peek at who will be behind the mic this fall.
