‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s,’ with Audrey Hepburn, screens twice on LI

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is being served with a toast to its 55th anniversary.

The 1961 Oscar winner starring Audrey Hepburn as sprightly Holly Golightly returns to theaters nationwide, including Stony Brook 17, on Nov. 27 and 30 as part TCM’s Big Screen Classic Series. Preceding the movie, which introduced the hit song “Moon River,” will be a filmed introduction by Turner Classic Movies’ newest host, the appropriately named Tiffany Vasquez. Though Truman Capote, who wrote the novella upon which the movie was based, wanted Marilyn Monroe to play Holly, the role became identified with Hepburn, who said “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” was her favorite among her films.

The big screen isn’t the only place where the movie is being shown. Paramount Home Media this month released the movie on digital HD as part of the Audrey Hepburn Five-Movie Collection. The other four releases are “Roman Holiday” (1953), for which Hepburn won a best actress Oscar; Billy Wilder’s “Sabrina” (1954); “Funny Face” (1957), in which she was danced with Fred Astaire; and the rom-com “Paris When It Sizzles” (1964). That’s enough Hepburn to satisfy all her huckleberry friends.
