Four hours before the midnight opening of "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1," more than 150 Long Island fans met one of the vampires in the flesh -- Nikki Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale, signed copies of Seventeen magazine yesterday at the Barnes & Noble in Carle Place. She is on the December/January cover.

Reed appeared at the signing with husband Paul McDonald, an "American Idol" finalist she married in October. Reed and McDonald serenaded the crowd, performing a duet of a song they wrote together called "Now That I've Found You."

The signing was the perfect lead up to the midnight showing for twins Katie and Sarah LaRiviere and friend Lindsey Ramos, all 16 and from Garden City, who were heading to the Loews Raceway Theatre in Westbury afterward. "She's gorgeous. She's a great actress. She plays the role perfectly," Katie LaRiviere said. The girls would be watching the film thinking "Oh, my gosh, I just met her a few hours ago," Ramos said.

As for Reed, she has sneaked into theaters in jeans and a hoodie on opening night to see fan reaction, she said. "I don't like, go all out and try to look like a ninja. I just don't wear any makeup and put my hair in a bun," she added. No chance she'd be pulling that here on Long Island, though -- she said she was planning instead to meet her father and brother after the signing for a late dinner in Manhattan.

Ashley Simeone, 19, of Oyster Bay was thrilled to have the chance to meet one of the cast. "I love her," she said of Reed. "She's absolutely beautiful."
