THE DEAL The actor has signed on to star in an adaptation of Stephen King's apocalyptic novel about a mobile phone signal that turns people into murderous monsters. According to Deadline.com, Jackson, below, will play Tom McCourt, an engineer and former soldier who joins Clay Riddell (John Cusack), a man fleeing the collapsing city of Boston. Tod "Kip" Williams ("Paranormal Activity 2") is set to direct.

THE MOVIE "Sweet Summer Sun -- Hyde Park Live"

THE DEAL Select theaters are now screening this two-hour concert movie, which captured the Stones playing for a crowd of 100,000 at London's Hyde Park on July 6 and 13. The band's usual lineup of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood -- plus longtime backup members Darryl Jones and Lisa Fischer, among others -- is briefly augmented by former guitarist Mick Taylor, who made his live debut with the Stones at Hyde Park in 1969.

THE MOVIE "At Berkeley"

THE DEAL Frederick Wiseman's documentary focuses on the economic, administrative and symbolic functions of the University of California at Berkeley, the oldest and perhaps most colorful campus in the state's esteemed public university system. Wiseman specializes in cinematic portraits of institutions, from 1967's "Titicut Follies," about a Massachusetts hospital for the criminally insane, to 2011's "Crazy Horse," about the famous nude cabaret in Paris. He'll speak live via Skype after next week's screening.
