Take away Chester Bennington's (at right) emotional vocals on the chorus and Mike Shinoda's raps and the new Linkin Park single "Burn It Down" (Warner Bros.) could be a Depeche Mode song circa 1997's "Ultra." That's not a bad thing, just another milepost on the band's speedy getaway from the nü-metal that made them rock's biggest band at the turn of the century. Their timing, though, couldn't be better, as electronic music's influence seeps into nearly every corner of pop culture, including rock.
