Madison Beer has always had a powerful singing voice, but on her debut EP, “As She Pleases” (Access), she finally taps into her own artistic voice.

The Jericho teenager’s career has been filled with stops and starts since Justin Bieber discovered her on YouTube at the age of 13 and signed her to his record label. Beer released a string of singles, but her music didn’t bring her the same success she found as a model for Ralph Lauren or as a social media personality.

“As She Pleases” should change that, especially as she displays a harder lyrical edge in the single “Dead” and “Tyler Durden,” which she co-wrote. In “Tyler Durden,” a nod to the character from the Chuck Palahniuk novel “Fight Club” that Brad Pitt played in the movie version, she sings, “With your hand around my throat, I don’t wanna see you go ’cause I like it,” though she recognizes the relationship isn’t sustainable.

It’s that artistic advancement she hopes to build on when she takes to the stage on her first tour, which starts in April in Los Angeles and includes shows at the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan May 17 and The Paramount in Huntington May 19.
