New 'Man of Steel' trailer debuts

In the world of superhero films, the origin stories are generally the best.
That's why I'm not fatigued by yet another rendition of the "Superman" tale, "Man of Steel," which saw the release of a new trailer Tuesday. It's due in theaters June 14.
With Henry Cavill as the adult Clark Kent and Amy Adams his Lois Lane, the star power, of course, is supersized. Kevin Coster and Diane Lane play the Kents, and Russell Crowe is Jor-El.
Director Zack Snyder, as evidenced in his "300" and "Watchmen," is more known for style than substance, and the "Man of Steel" trailer certainly packs in the action. But it also indicates cinematic time spent on the time-honored convention of showing us those rough childhood and teenage years, the crux of most solid origin movies.
Can "Man of Steel" be as substantive as this year's "The Amazing Spider-Man"? The trailer doesn't offer an answer to that, but it doesn't completely crush such potential, either.
