Sept. 11 seems like an unlikely day for the John W. Engeman Theater in Northport to kick off its new season, but given that the first offering is "Come From Away," the timing couldn't be more appropriate.
The poignant Tony Award-winning musical about townsfolk in the Canadian province of Newfoundland who took in thousands of stranded airline passengers during the 2001 terror attacks will open the 2025-26 season, the theater announced on Wednesday. The show, which will mark the Engeman's 100th production, is set to run from Sept. 11 through Oct. 26.
“We are so proud to present such a powerful and entertaining lineup,” said Richard Dolce, the theater's executive producer, in a statement. “This season celebrates unforgettable storytelling and iconic music, and I can’t think of a better way to mark our 100th main stage production. Audiences are in for a season full of joy, heart, and spectacular performances.”
"Come From Away" will be followed by its holiday offering, "A Christmas Carol: The Musical" (Nov. 13-Dec. 28). Up next will be the Johnny Cash jukebox musical "Ring of Fire," starting off 2026 from Jan. 15 to March 1, featuring dozens of hits by the Man in Black, including "I Walk the Line” and “Folsom Prison Blues."
"The Bodyguard," a musical based on the popular 1992 movie starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, will open on March 12 and run through April 26, and features the megahit “I Will Always Love You."
Rounding out the season will be a trip to the Round Table with the romantic musical "Camelot" (May 14-June 28) about royals Arthur, Guenevere, and one Lancelot Du Lac, and the '80s-set musical "The Wedding Singer" based on the 1998 Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore movie rom-com.
