“Frozen,” the highest-grossing animated film of all time, will try to melt Broadway’s heart as a musical in the spring of 2018, reports Newsday’s Linda Winer.

As Disney announced Tuesday on Twitter, the show, based on the 2013 Oscar-winning animated feature about two royal sisters and a kingdom cursed by eternal winter, will tryout the previous summer in an unidentified city.

Although no casting has been announced, the score will be by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who wrote the movie music, including the Academy Award-winning song, “Let It Go.” The book will be written by the movie’s screenwriter Jennifer Lee.

In a break from the film, which grossed $1.3 billion worldwide, the show will have a Broadway creative team — including adventurous young director Alex Timbers (“Peter and the Starcatcher” and co-writer/co-director of the Amazon series, “Mozart in the Jungle”). At least as important for the company behind Julie Taymor’s “The Lion King,” sets and costumes will be designed by Bob Crowley, the seven-time Tony winner most recently responsible for “An American in Paris.” Peter Darling (“Billy Elliot”) is the choreographer.
