'Bachelor' Arie Luyendyk Jr., fiancee Lauren Burnham expecting first child
Arie Luyendyk Jr., star of the most recent season of "The Bachelor," and his fiancee Lauren Burnham are expecting their first child together.
"I kind of had a feeling that I might be pregnant. So my friend insisted on bringing a pregnancy test over," Burnham, who turns 27 on Tuesday, told Us Weekly in its new issue. "Arie came out with the test in his hand and tears in his eyes. He was like, 'You're pregnant!' "
On Wednesday, Burnham posted an Instagram photo of the couple kissing as she held a strip of sonogram images in her hand. "Our greatest adventure begins June 2019!," she wrote, adding a baby emoji.
Phoenix, Arizona-based real estate agent and former race car driver Luyendyk Jr. wrote on Facebook and Instagram, "Nothing compares, absolutely nothing compares to the moment you find out you’re going to be a dad! We cried, we laughed and it really was such a special moment for us, we’re so freakin’ happy!"
The couple previously announced in May they plan a private, nontelevised wedding ceremony in Hawaii on Jan. 12.
Luyendyk, 37, was one of the most controversial Bachelors in the show's history. On his season of the reality-TV competition, he initially asked Becca Kufrin to marry him, before realizing several weeks later that runner-up Burnham was truly the one he wanted. After breaking up with a devastated Kufrin, he proposed to Burnham on the "After the Final Rose" special in March.
