Deandre Brackensick 'totally captivating' on 'American Idol'
Deandre Brackensick, up first as "American Idol" sings songs from the 1980s, does Debarge's "I Like It". Guest mentor Gwen Stefani tells him to relax; look more like you're enjoying yourself.
It's a real questionable song choice -- showing off his falsetto -- but it's a weak melody. He is performing it pretty well, and looks comfortable and happy dancing around.
But with him performing first, I doubt anyone's gonna remember this performance.
"I liked it!" says Jennifer Lopez, calling it "very natural -- you had the crowd going, and you sounded amazing."
Steven Tyler thought it was "totally captivating," while Randy Jackson loved how he didn't just rely on his falsetto, and called it "the perfect song for you... amazing."
Uh, OK; they're starting the night with an awful lot of happy talk.
