Is Naya Rivera off 'Glee'? Rumors blame Lea Michele fight
Is "Glee" ensemble star Naya Rivera still on the show?
"Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from 'Glee' are absolutely untrue. End of story," the actress' representative said in a statement to Newsday, after mainstream media spread a tabloid website's claim on Monday that "sources" were "confirming" Rivera's ouster, allegedly over a feud with star Lea Michele.
No rancor was evident in tweets the following day by Rivera and Michele, both 27, with Rivera writing simply, "SO excited to watch 'Glee' tonight!" and Michele complimenting her co-star, posting during the episode's airing Tuesday, "OMG so excited for this right now!!!! Naya Rivera and Amber Riley are AMAZING!!!"
Shortly afterward, Michele chose to reply to a fan asking, "How much do you love your 'Glee' family?" by tweeting, "I love them all so much!"
Us Weekly said Wednesday that Rivera had been fired, while E! Online said although Rivera wouldn't be in this season's finale no decision was made regarding the actress or her character, singer and former high-school cheerleader Santana Lopez. Entertainment Weekly and People magazines were noncommittal over the rumor and gave the rep's denial. Representatives for Fox and "Glee" have declined to comment.
Claims of discord between the two surfaced last week, when Us quoted anonymous sources claiming Rivera and Michele had long been icy with each other, culminating in an April 15th on-set altercation.
Both women have had personal difficulties: Michele's boyfriend, fellow "Glee" star Cory Monteith, died of a drug overdose in July, while last month, Rivera's fiance, rapper Big Sean, called off their wedding.
