'DWTS' is over, and maybe J.R. Martinez. . .
should take a bow. If anyone out there is still paying attention to the less-than-stellar 13th season of "Dancing with the Stars," then you know that Monday night was a bit of history in "DWTS" land.
Not only was J.R.Martinez's performance (s) unusual, but possibly a coup de grace, and if it was not a coup de grace, then I don't know what the meaning of "coup de grace" is. (In fact, I really don't . . . it means "the blow that kills," but no one actually died last night on "DWTS" except maybe Nancy Grace -- ba dum-- but then, I digress.)
The three judges effectively handed Martinez that gloriously tasteful mirror ball, by giving him and partner Karina Smirnoff a pair of perfect 30s for the first time in . . . stick with me here . . . I'll tell you in a minute . . . OK . . . ready for this? Good: This was the best week 8 score since all the way back in the second season of 2006, when Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke scored a pair of perfect tens in the eighth week.
The difference then: That was the finale, and of course they won. Perfect 30s are very rare indeed, but just about unheard of this early in the comp.
