Score day one to Watson, though barely. Tonight's fascinating showdown between Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, and Watson -- no last name given -- established that machines, the very best I could tell, really can press buttons faster than humans. Beyond that? We must wait and see. Ken Jennings, who is not the most demonstrative guy under normal circumstances, was visibly frustrated a few times, Rutter less so, by that dexterous lad comprised of circuitry and silicon. But there are two days left. Who will win? Rutter tied Watson by show's end ($5,000); still. Watty looks like he's got the goods.
