How lucky is Jimmy Fallon that this flap is erupting just at the beginning of the Thanksgiving holiday when most people aren't paying attention. But last night, he apologized via Twitter for a Roots song intro on Monday's show that accompanied guest  Michele Bachmann's entrance:  "Lyin' ---," by Fishbone.

I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back. 13 hours ago.

How big a deal was this? I don't know the song -- at all -- and I'm certain Bachmann didn't. The specific lyrics were never spoken either. But it was sly and  mean-spirited, and  it got the  right-wing media -- OK, it got Glenn Beck --  in an uproar yesterday, and fueled one of his rants against "the Mainstream Media." GB's tirade below.

Bachmann attacked the so-called MSM herself last week when she got hold of some email that seemed to indicate CBS News was dismissing  her candidacy.

The odd thing is, this mess is entirely uncharacteristic of Fallon -- who is probably the nicest interviewer on TV. Doubt he's ever asked a snarky, gotcha question on this show, but of course, I'd have to go back and look at the last three years. Meanwhile, Bachmann is now asking for an apology from NBC, That clip below, too, and thanks to TVNewser for locating.
