As it turns out, Kevin James is using his sold out shows at The Paramount in Huntington on April 6 and 9 as a warm up.

The comedian, who grew up in Stony Brook and Mineola, is following in the footsteps of fellow Long Island comics Jerry Seinfeld and Amy Schumer by signing up with Netflix for a stand-up special set to debut in 2018.

James, who has been known to keep his comedy chops up in between his TV work on “The King of Queens” and his current show, “Kevin Can Wait,” has not released a special since 2001 when “Sweat the Small Stuff” debuted on Comedy Central.

This will mark James’ third project with the streaming service. His film “True Memoirs of an International Assassin” was released last fall and he will appear in Adam Sandler’s upcoming comedy, “Sandy Wexler,” which is set to be released next month.

James will be doing more touring this summer and the special will most likely be shot in the fall.
