On the live semifinals of "America's Got Talent" Tuesday night, 12-year-old Garden City South singer Luke Islam got the latest in his series of standing ovations on the NBC variety competition. He will learn Wednesday night whether he was voted through to the finals, which air live next week.

Stepping onto the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood at 8:26 p.m., the third act of the night, Islam in a red tuxedo jacket and a wine-colored button-down shirt belted out a powerful version of "Never Enough" from the 2017 movie-musical "The Greatest Showman."

Guest judge Queen Latifah marveled afterward, "There was something in his eyes that told me he was immersing himself in this moment. You were in that moment," she told Islam. "Every single piece and particle of your body was in that song and in that place. And you took us there with you."

Julianne Hough, who had bestowed a Golden Buzzer on him in a July episode, sending Islam directly to the live quarterfinal round, teared up during the rapturous applause. She told the youngster, "I feel like a proud mama right now. … You just were a voice for all of those people that have felt like they have never been enough. So thank you for articulating that."

Gabrielle Union told the H. Frank Carey High School student, "You are a world-class talent," while Howie Mandel promised, "You will be on Broadway and your dreams will come true."

"It's been my goal my entire life to be a Broadway star," Islam said in his prerecorded introduction. "I always thought that would never, ever happen. But now after performing at the Dolby Theater, it feels like that dream can actually happen. … All the lights, the cameras, the applause … I wish I could see those lights and hear that applause every day. And if this goes well, maybe I will."
