Mariah Carey stars in CBS Christmas special
Long Island music icon Mariah Carey, who annually expresses her passion for Christmas with themed concerts and TV specials, will star in a TV concert special on Dec. 20.
CBS and sister streaming service Paramount+ announced Thursday that the two-hour "Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All!" will be shot at Madison Square Garden, where the five-time Grammy Award winner, who was born in Huntington and raised there and in Melville, Northport and Greenlawn, has shows scheduled for Dec. 13 and 16.
The TV special will feature the singer-songwriter performing a repertoire of her holiday hits, including her 1994 perennial "All I Want for Christmas Is You." The news was first announced Thursday on "CBS Mornings," in an interview with the network's Gayle King.
Earlier this month, Carey released her new children's book "The Christmas Princess," co-written with her memoir collaborator Michaela Angela Davis and illustrated by Fuuji Takashi.
