Shark Week, take note of these 5 so-bad-they're-great shark TV movies
With Shark Week starting Sunday on Discovery and the nation still obsessed with Syfy's cheesy "Sharknado," we figured it's as good a time as any to check out these five fin-friendly flicks (which -- surprise, surprise -- all aired or will air on Syfy):
GHOST SHARK (premieres Aug. 22) -- Syfy follows up "Sharknado" with this instant classic about a great white shark that is tortured and killed by a fisherman, then returns from the dead, exacting vengeance on all humans. Mackenzie Rosman ("7th Heaven") stars.
JERSEY SHORE SHARK ATTACK (2012) -- "The Complication," "Nookie" and friends confront a killer shark. (Wink, wink: Look for "Jersey Shore's" Vinnie Guadagnino in a small role.)
DINOSHARK (2010) -- B-movie king Roger Corman produced this Syfy classic about a part-dinosaur, part-shark, left, that unleashes its terror after it escapes from an Antarctic glacier, where it's been encased.
SHARKTOPUS (2010) -- Another Corman Syfy masterpiece: A half-shark, half-octopus created for the military wreaks havoc on beachgoers after it escapes. Eric Roberts stars as the creature's creator.
MALIBU SHARK ATTACK (2009) -- Consider this the precursor to "Sharknado": After a tsunami floods Malibu, a pack of prehistoric goblin sharks emerges.
