Greg T and Carolina Bermudez, the WKTU/103.5 FM morning team — among the best-known names on New York radio — are no longer on the air, station owner iHeartMedia confirmed Thursday.

The “Carolina with Greg T” show was canceled earlier this week, wrapping a nearly five-year run for the veteran hosts. Both had been longtime members of sister station “Z-100” on “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” before the WKTU collaboration began in late 2019.

Neither Greg Tyndorf nor Bermudez could be reached for comment. The station's program director, Chris Conley, said in a statement, “We thank Carolina and Greg T for all their contributions to WKTU and New York and wish both the best as they move forward to the next chapter.”

The station even commissioned a lighthearted YouTube video to mark their first day in the fall of 2019: “What do I think is next?” said Bermudez at the time. “It's going to be a beautiful mess.” Greg T agreed, saying, "It's going to be awesome, awesome."

“Carolina with Greg T" was a reunion of sorts. She had been at the hit WHTZ/100.3 FM morning show “Elvis Duran'' in the aughts, then joined sister station WKTU in 2014 as co-host of its own morning show with Paul “Cubby” Bryant. He had left in May 2019, for WLTW/106.7 FM — best known as “Lite FM” — the powerhouse iHeart station in the city. New Jersey native Tyndorf, who was known in the early years on "Z-100" as “Greg T the Frat Boy,” had spent nearly a quarter century there before joining Bermudez at KTU (which has a so-called “rhythmic adult contemporary” format — or a mix of pop, disco and hip-hop). His on-air style — high volume, high speed, and especially high energy — had made him one of the most popular and recognizable voices on New York radio by then.

Bermudez, meanwhile, has long been a New York media hyphenate: Along with the morning show, she's been a contributor to the “Today” show, “Access Hollywood,” “Entertainment Tonight," CNN's “Showbiz Tonight,” E! News and VH1. (She was also a co-host of a morning show for WLNY/55.) According to her online biography, she had a recurring role on ABC's “One Life to Live,” and has been a guest announcer for the Mets during Citi Field's “Fiesta Latina'' and “Merengue Nights.”

There was some speculation on the New York Radio Message Board that “Carolina with Greg T” would have been shelved in late July anyway for iHeart's simulcast of NBCUniversal's coverage of the Paris Summer Olympics — iHeart was earlier named NBCUniversal's “exclusive audio partner” for the 2024 games. However, Olympics coverage will stream only on iHeart's digital platform while the over-the-air stations will continue with their regular programming.

According to the most recent Nielsen figures, eighth-ranked WKTU had just under a 4 rating last month — a decline from February and less than half the rating of New York radio leader "Lite-FM."

The station has not yet announced a replacement.
