A sleepover at the American Museum of Natural History
It was a stormy night and the wind howled like a wolf. The rain pounded on us. We rushed through the doors as soon as possible. When my whole family was inside, I let my eyes take in the action. All around me stood wax figures, paintings, and sculptures. Wow! “So this is what the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan looks like,” I thought to myself. I could scarcely remember going there when I was a baby, but this visit would be a little different. I would stay there a little longer. For I would be sleeping over at the Museum of Natural History!
I was really excited and couldn’t wait until we unpacked all of our supplies and started exploring. Wait, I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself. I didn’t even know where we would be sleeping. There were posters everywhere pointing to different rooms. The whale room, the jungle room, and much more. I was thinking this all while we were still walking, and walking, and walking. How big is this museum? It felt like we had been walking for miles when finally we reached our destination. The whale room. That was where we would be sleeping. There were over 1,000 tiny cots in the room. Above me stood a blue whale that was over 100 feet long. We explored the museum for hours until it was past midnight and some of the museum’s lights started turning off. We quickly hurried to bed. I had an amazing time sleeping there.
Here are some of the things in your overnight adventure: evening snack and light breakfast, cots, fossil fact-finding mission by flashlight, live-animal special exhibition or live-animal presentation.
