Long Island is getting a new holiday light show this year.

The first Riverhead Holiday Light Show will kick off at 5 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Long Island Sports Park in Calverton. Visitors will drive through a route featuring dozens of dazzling light displays, some reaching three stories high.

“All the light displays are going to be custom built," said Tawni Otterman, account executive of Bold Broadcasting, the parent company of the event. "Some are more than 100 feet wide."

The show's route is about a 20- to 25-minute drive with 65 light displays that span about a mile and a half in length, according to Otterman. Some of the holiday scenes include a campfire, a giant ice palace, reindeer, Santa Claus and a sparkling snowflake tunnel. Guests are encouraged to tune into radio channel 104.7 WELJ to enjoy holiday music during the ride.

The light show is projected to be the most-attended holiday event in eastern Suffolk County, Otterman said, with 40 to 50 thousand visitors expected through the season.

Admission per car is $23 when purchased on RiverheadLightShow.com, and are valid for any day the show is open. Tickets will be available at the door for $25, although availability is not guaranteed. The light show is open Nov. 16-18, 23-25 and 29-30, and Dec. 1-2, 6-9, 13-16 and 20-30; 5-9 p.m.; Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays; 5-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
