Do you have any collections that have been passed down from generation to generation? I do, and it is something I will love forever. It’s my Madame Alexander doll collection.

This collection started when I was 2. I have gotten a doll every year for my birthday from my second birthday on. I also got one for my communion. The most recent doll I got was for my 12th birthday.

My great-aunt Kay started this collection for me. There are two reasons why my aunt started giving these dolls to me. Reason No. 1 is that my great-grandmother Elsie loved these dolls, and they wore beautiful clothes. Reason No. 2 is that my grandma Gail, who passed away a few months before my parents’ wedding, collected these dolls and loved them.

My aunt told me that when I was born, my grandma Gail would have been so excited to have a beautiful granddaughter. My aunt thought and thought about what she could give me every year for my birthday. Then finally she thought of something special that my grandma would have loved giving me for my birthday, Madame Alexander dolls. My aunt also told me that she always has fun picking out a new doll every year, and that she is happy I continue to love them.

My aunt told me that she usually starts looking a couple months before my birthday but she makes her final decision in about two weeks.

I hope that you will now ask your parents or grandparents about any special collections or objects that have been passed down for years.
