Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 review
My 3-year-old daughter, Maggie, has just about every tablet designed for kids, yet she only wants to play with our iPad. That is until she tried the new Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 -- I can't get her to put it down.
The new tablet runs on the Android 4.2 OS and comes preloaded with more than 70 popular books, apps and games, plus full versions of 25 top-rated books and apps from Disney, Marvel and Cartoon Network. Children can get help learning to read with superheroes such as Spiderman, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk or they can play fun games with characters from "Toy Story," my daughter's favorite, "Wreck-it-Ralph" and "Cars."
What I love most about this tablet is how easy it is to use -- the power and volume buttons are clearly displayed, which helped my daughter learn how to turn it on and off by herself. I downloaded additional apps through the Amazon app store as well. Maggie's favorite is the "Talking Ginger" app, featuring a silly cat that does kid-friendly things like taking a bath, brushing her teeth, getting dressed and more. It comes with a toothbrush timer, which I use when my daughter is brushing her teeth. I also downloaded coloring apps, puzzles, "Thomas and Friends" games and more.
My husband and I also recorded a special good-night message using the video camera. She now watches it every night before she falls asleep. Other features include new front and rear cameras, a DJ studio that allows kids to make their own music using preloaded sounds and beats, and side and rear rubber bumpers that help protect the device from shocks and falls.
The Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 retails for $99 on toysrus.com.
