The Disney show “Raven’s Home” is a spinoff of “That’s So Raven.” The show is about Raven Baxter (played by Raven-Symoné) and her best friend Chelsea (Anneliese van der Pol) and their kids. Booker (Isaac Ryan Brown) and his twin sister, Nia (Navia Robinson), are Raven’s kids, and Levi is Chelsea’s son.
Raven and Booker have psychic visions and they have to solve problems with the aid of their special power. They live in a small apartment building, and their friend Tess lives in the apartment across from them. Raven has been through a lot, and yes, there are some problems along the way with visions and everyday challenges. They always come through with the help of their visions and the power of their family. The show is currently in their second season and is airing a musical episode this Friday!
They have a special remix episode which airs Friday at 8 p.m. on Disney. We saw this episode before meeting the cast members, and we could not believe how good it is. You are going to love it. The remix episode is about Booker finding out their school is having a musical.
The main character is Booker, who loves to play basketball and enjoys rapping. His mother has a vision of Booker getting a huge round of applause and tells Booker he should go for the part. Nia finds out that the lead needs to be able to rap and play basketball. Then Nia finds out her best friend, Tess (Sky Katz), would be perfect for the part. Nia tries to persuade Coach Spitz (Anthony Alabi) to pick Tess, but he says Tess can't get the part because she’s a girl. Nia decides to take a stand and prove to the coach that girls can do anything boys can do. This episode features all musical genres such as rap, pop, swag, and more.
Earlier this week, we sat down with Raven, Navia and Isaac at ABC's offices in Manhattan. We were excited to get to know them first hand during our interview. Raven is a beautiful woman, and we found out that she likes to look as natural as possible. Her favorite brand of makeup is Becca. All three cast members shared with us how much preparation goes into each episode. There are constant script changes, and their workday is often from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. But they like to stay even later to watch scary movies and hang out together.
We wanted to know if there was anything special they do before filming. We all had a good laugh when Raven told us she has to use the toilet, get a lot of sleep, wear her onesie on Wednesdays, and not wear shoes on Thursdays.
Since we have a lot of class pets in our room, we asked them what animal they would like to be. Isaac wanted to be a black panther, Navia a jaguar and Raven, of course, picked a unicorn and tried to convince everyone that it is a real animal.
Surprisingly, if they were not actors, Isaac would be a writer, Navia would be a lawyer or fashion designer, and Raven an artist. Raven is actually pursuing her dream of being an artist right now.
When we asked the cast about their favorite Disney characters, Raven was quick to yell out Stitch from the movie “Lilo & Stitch.”
Isaac shared with us his excitement about the new “Kim Possible” movie. He wants the viewers to know that Wade (his character) will always be there for Kim whenever she needs him and that he brought his smart, quick, witty personality to the role.
One message that we took away from the interview was that the cast members treated one another like a family, and supported one another, no matter what. They also want young people to follow their dreams and passions, no matter what.
