Summer crafts for kids at Michaels

Now that the school year is winding down, you may be looking for fun things to do with the kids before summer camp. Recently, Michaels craft stores kicked off its annual in-store program, inviting kids to explore culture through crafts.

This year's seven-week program is called the Passport to Imagination. Michaels teamed up with seven of North America's top museums to create projects inspired by the museums and their exhibits. Some of themes include dolphin crafts based on the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, airplane projects from the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona, scribble art from the Denver Art Museum and learn textural weaving from the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and more.

The crafting adventures take place now through Aug. 2 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon. Each two-hour session costs $2 per child at all Michaels locations. For more information and to find a location near you, visit michaels.com.
