Wednesday night on Travel Channel’s food-challenge show, Man v. Food, host Adam Richman takes on Long Island.

The episode was filmed in April. Richman started the day at Ciao Baby in Massapequa Park, not because the menu there has any actual challenges, but because, said the restaurant’s general manager Frank Cammarata, “all the portions here are so massive.” Richman got into Ciao Baby’s giant riceball and meat platter, five pounds of meat (meatballs, hot and sweet sausage) with two pounds of pasta. He also enjoyed the enormous gemelli platter, the pasta topped with sundried-tomato cream sauce, broccoli rabe, mushrooms and ricotta cheese. “Thank God I’m not doing a challenge here,” Richman reportedly said to Cammarata.

Next stop: International Delight Café in Bellmore. There Richman attempted to consume “the World,” about three gallons of ice cream, toppings, waffles, nuts, sprinkles—the works—served in the same huge bowl that used to contain the The Kitchen Sink at the old Jahn’s in Rockville Centre (which was owned by the father of International Delight’s proprietor, Tony Lee).

Final stop: Port Royal Grille in Islip, where Richman took on the Davy Jones’ Locker challenge: soup or salad followed by two pounds of snow crab claws, one pound steamed mussels, one pound fried clams, 42 grilled shrimp, two crab-and-shrimp-stuffed fillets of sole, plus two sides and cole slaw. “The stuffed flounder is the real hurdle,” said owner Anthony Mastrantonio. “The fillets aren’t bad in themselves, but they have a pound of stuffing between them.”

To see how Richman did, tune in to Man v. Food at 9 p.m. on Travel Channel.
