The blue-ribbon South Shore BBQ Company in Patchogue has closed.

The capacious house of ‘cue opened in the former Route 112 digs of Canz Roadhouse in March of this year, with noted pitmaster Will Breakstone at the smoker. Not too long afterward, the place was accorded a blue ribbon in a Newsday article profiling Long Island's top new barbecue spots. Breakstone parted ways with the restaurant in August.

Co-owner Tim Lorito said that the place closed because its barbecue menu was just too limited in scope for the area's demographics. He added that he expects to shortly open another restaurant at the same site — one with a new chef  and a “wider” menu. Barbecue will be included as one of many options, he said.
