Golden Dolphin Diner in Huntington closes for 'improvements'

Customers looking for everything from waffles and pancakes to triple-decker sandwiches and steaks at the Golden Dolphin Diner in Huntington will need to find another eatery for now.
Golden Dolphin, a Main Street mainstay for decades, has posted a sign telling diners: "Thank you for your continued support. Please excuse us as we do some minor improvements & re-organize over the next few days to better your dinning [sic] experience."
Also on the glass door, to the left of the restaurant's message, are collection notices from National Grid for failure to pay $882.01 for gas service. If the diner’s operators do not make the payment, the notices state, service will be turned off.
There is no mention of the current closure on Golden Dolphin's Facebook page.
Golden Dolphin closed for five months in 2015 for renovations that doubled its size. It was seized by New York State in 2017 for owing $163,000 in taxes, then reopened under new management later that year.
The diner was purchased by veteran restaurateurs Spiro and Buffy Dimas, who have operated the Old Westbury Diner, the Williston Townhouse Diner and other properties; and partner Peter Tsadilas. They could not be reached immediately for comment about when, or if, Golden Dolphin would reopen at 365 Main St. in downtown Huntington.
The diner's extensive menu has included Greek and Italian-American dishes; burgers; chops; broiled. fried or stuffed seafood; quesadillas; wraps; salads; and pies, cakes, puddings and ice cream.
