As one door closes, another opens.

Country music fans in Suffolk County were faced with the loss of a night of line dancing – or so they thought – when Middle Country Beer Garden in Centereach (MCBG) closed its doors this week (on Sunday, May 5). The beer garden had been running a successful honkytonk-style bash on Thursdays since it opened in 2012, but as it is no longer in operation, the party – which was an evening punctuated by line-dancing and live music – is, obviously, no more.

However, it so happens that there is a new get-together starting up this week ready to fill the void left by the departure of the MCBG, and it’s also set to roll every seven days, only this event is a weekend affair.

At 6 p.m. on May 10, Bread & Butter Bistro in Holtsville will begin its own regular country night, and much like what was happening over in Centereach, this weekly hoedown will feature line dancing, drink specials, a DJ (DJ Deuce) and bands performing (this week the slated act is LI-based Rattlesnake Dawn) – but unlike the now-defunct Middle Country Beer Garden, B&B is located within a hotel (the Holtsville Ramada), meaning that anyone who’d rather stay out for the night can simply seek a room. Furthermore, from Thursday thru Saturday, Bread & Butter serves food around the clock, saving guests the need to ever exit for trips to diners, drive-thru fast food or convenience stores to address an empty tummy.

There isn't a cover charge; for more details, check online at breadandbutterli.com and facebook.com/bread.butterli.
