Some NY Jets to appear at the Monday Night Party
Now that the 2012 National Football League's regular schedule is underway, gridiron fans can look forward to the always popular "Monday Night Football" weekly game -- but for fans of the Jets, their team’s first game takes place on Sunday, Sept. 9. on TV. However, supporters of “Gang Green" -- and football in general -- can catch some actual NFL players come Monday, Sept. 10, live and in-person.
Called the "Monday Night Party," it's an annual affair, and this year the scheduled guests are Jets wide receiver (and MVP of Super Bowl XLIII) Santonio Holmes, cornerback Kyle Wilson and former Jets safety Victor Green. The athletes will be present at this fundraiser set for a 7 p.m. start at Temple Sinai of Roslyn (425 Roslyn Rd., 516-621-6800, templesinairoslyn.com), and will also include food, comedy, autographs, raffles and auctions – with signed memorabilia among the items to be sold to bidders.
Tickets are available online at mondaynightparty.org for $149 ($299 VIP; $99 for children 12 and under), with proceeds benefiting The Santonio Holmes III and Long Foundation (doing sickle cell anemia research) and The Ascent School (for individuals with autism) in Deer Park.
