Good late-night restaurants on Long Island
Maybe you've just come in on a late-night flight. Or the movie at the multiplex has ended but your appetite is just revving up. Whatever the reason, it helps to know of restaurants that burn the midnight oil.

THE GOOD LIFE, Massapequa Park
A British accent informs this gastro pub, where the kitchen cooks until 2 a.m. nightly. Worthy of your appetite on the late-night menu (everything but full entrees) are burgers and a fine pulled-pork sandwich.

BOTTOMZ UP, Carle Place
At this sports bar and "breastaurant," an abbreviated late-night menu runs from 10 p.m. to midnight Sunday to Thursday, and midnight until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. You can get shrimp cocktail, Buffalo wings, crabcakes, fried pickles, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, soft pretzels, fries and onion rings. The regular menu is available weekends until midnight.

MAXWELL'S, Islip
There's an animated bar scene at this Islip pub that serves its full menu until midnight on weeknights and till 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Standouts include mini Reuben sandwiches, fish tacos and a marinated hanger steak sandwich.
