The name of the new dining concept at Huntington’s Heckscher Museum of Art was inevitable: Palette Cafe. But if that conjures up images of French classics, think again; the kitchen here is a lineup of food trucks. Seating for 36 has been set up on the museum’s neoclassical terrace, and there are plenty more picturesque perches at Heckscher Park which is, essentially, the museum’s front yard.

Palette Cafe launched earlier this month and will extend through September. Every Friday afternoon brings a new food truck and the fleet includes Big Black Food Truck (modern soul food, BBQ and more, Aug. 23), Roadhouse Empanadas (Aug. 30), Cousins Maine Lobster (Sept. 20) and All American Wontons (Sept. 27).

While you’re there, why not stop into the museum? There’s no entrance fee, and current exhibitions include "The Stick Men" featuring a series of paintings created by German social artist George Grosz (1893—1959) who lived in Huntington from 1947 until shortly before his death.

Palette Cafe is open Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. through Sept. 27 at Heckscher Museum of Art, 2 Prime Ave., Huntington, 631-380-3230, heckscher.org. Details and updates (including rain cancellations) are posted on Instagram: @heckschermuseum.
