Cafe Red opened for dinner on Sunday, the newest venture from Nino Antuzzi and Kelley Danek, who also own Red, Osteria da Nino and Sapsuckers,  all in Huntington. According to Danek, the café’s menu is culled from favorite items at Red and Osteria da Nino.

First courses range between $7 and $11 and include eggplant Parmesan, shrimp spring roll with wasabi aioli and Berkshire baby back ribs with house-made slaw. Pastas average $16 and most main courses are around $20. Principal influences are Italian (tilapia oreganata, Berkshire pork osso buco), New American (short ribs with mashed potatoes) and Asian-fusion (yellowfin tuna with sweet soy glaze, shrimp curry).

While Nino Antuzzi is the executive chef for all of the group’s restaurants, the new kitchen is being overseen by Arturo Garcia, who worked at Red for seven years.

For now, Cafe Red has no liquor license. It is closed on Mondays and open for dinner Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.

Cafe Red is at 107 Main St., Kings Park, 631-544 4500.
