In this week's Cheap Eats column, Newsday's Joan Reminick praises the homey Dominican cuisine at La Cocina de Marcia, which she awards two-and-half-stars. The best dishes, she writes, include the chicken soup, the seafood soup, comforting cheese-filled cassava fritters and the whole baked red snapper, above, a bargain at $12.95.
In today's Newsday, Peter M. Gianotti gives one-and-a-half stars to the "long-awaited buzz-driven" Sip City, a new restaurant in Great Neck where many cuisines collide. He praises such small plates as the Singapore street noodles, Beijing duck spring roll, duck nachos and shrimp cocktail.
