Chef Craig Attwood

Chef Craig Attwood Credit: Michael Harlan Turkell

Public House 49 in Patchogue (which snagged three stars under opening chef Richard Desmond) is now under the culinary command of chef Craig Attwood. Previously, Attwood cooked in Manhattan, at Patroon and Veritas, and on Long Island, at East Hampton Point in East Hampton and The Gatsby in Islip.

His seasonally changing menu includes such items as bacon-infused popcorn ($6), ahi tuna sliders ($13) as well as a Reuben sandwich ($13) and a roasted beet salad. Among large plates are a maple-glazed pork shank ($18) and butter poached salmon ($19).

The gastro pub (which morphs into a club after hours) will soon undergo some remodeling. Watch for updates.

Public House 49 is at 49 E. Main St., Patchogue; 631-569-2767.
