Pokeworks set to open first Long Island location in Woodbury

Pokeworks, the national restaurant chain serving the popular poke Hawaiian raw fish dish, is planning to open its first Long Island location in January, in the Woodbury Common shopping center in Woodbury.
The chain founded in 2015 already has three Manhattan restaurants as well as locations on the West Coast.
The 1,250-square-foot Woodbury Common space will serve the standard Pokeworks menu, in the store’s assembly line format, according to a representative of CBRE, the Los Angeles, California-based company handling the real estate transaction.
The choices will include build-your-own poke bowls, poke burritos and poke salads. Guests can build their poke with a selection of proteins (fish, shellfish, chicken or organic tofu), mix-ins (sweet onion, fresh jalapeño), flavorings ranging from sweet to spicy, toppings such as avocado, pickled ginger or crab salad and crunch (roasted macadamia nuts, garlic crisps).
The franchisees for the Queens and Long Island markets, New York City business entrepreneurs Yate Liu, and Alvin Zhang, live in Queens. They are also planning to open a Pokeworks in Fresh Meadows, Queens, in the spring, and more Long Island Pokeworks are in the works during the next two years, according to CBRE.
