When you celebrate Washington and Lincoln, do it with American food and drink. Three restaurants where you'll find both:
Canterbury's in Oyster Bay serves satisfying fare in Theodore Roosevelt's hometown. The casual oyster bar and grill naturally has a good selection of briny bivalves. Also, sample the fried oysters with a mustard rémoulade sauce, blue claw crabcakes, the bacon-wrapped filet mignon and the sirloin burger.

Cooperage Inn in Baiting Hollow revels in traditional American appointments and homey cooking. Meat loaf with mashed potatoes, chicken potpie, baby back ribs, a pork T-bone, flatiron steak, pan-roasted wild salmon and shrimp cocktail are among the staples. Try the pineapple Napoleon and the coconut cream pie, too.

The Lake House in Bay Shore excels with New American cuisine and local ingredients. The handsome waterside restaurant's inviting dishes include crisp-skinned Long Island duck breast and duck-and-fruit sausage, dry-aged rib-eye steak with Yukon Gold potatoes, pan-seared striped bass and herb-roasted chicken.
