In an instance of election-year discord in Long Island's congressional delegation, Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) is pushing back against Rep. Peter King's recent attacks on Democrats' anti-terrorism credentials.

Bishop takes credit for amending the Intelligence Authorization Act, passed Friday, to require the attorney general and director of national intelligence to specify how they'll balance intelligence collection and prosecution of suspected terrorists.

Such a policy, Bishop said, "will help de-politicize the debate." Bishop didn't name King, but the Seaford Republican has helped lead the larger GOP attack, especially on the Obama administration for prosecution, rather than military or CIA interrogation, of the failed Christmas Day bomber in Detroit.
