Police seeking tips after $17G worth of artwork stolen from Southampton storage unit
Authorities are offering a reward and seeking the public’s help in identifying who stole more than a dozen works of art from a storage facility in Southampton earlier this year.
The framed pieces, including prints and paintings, are valued at about $17,000 and were taken from the Life Storage on Mariner Drive between late January and late May.
Southampton police could not elaborate on the type of art stolen or any further details about the case.
"Security is a top priority for Life Storage, and we will be evaluating our security systems at this location," a spokesperson for Extra Space Storage, which purchased Life Storage last year, said via email. "Our team will support and cooperate with the police in their investigation of this unusual break-in."
Police are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers by calling 800-220-8477.
