Two homeless brothers were arrested and charged with assaulting a man following a dispute in the parking lot of a Days Inn in Hicksville on Friday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

Jelony Conze, 21, faces charges that include second-degree attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of weapon. His brother Adoni Omhari Conze, 23, was charged with assault.

While it’s not immediately clear what sparked the argument, Jelony Conze struck the victim with his 2005 Nissan Altima and then used a machete to slash the victim’s hands multiple times outside the South Oyster Bay Road hotel at 10:55 a.m., police said. The victim suffered severe cuts. Jelony’s brother, Adoni was seated inside the car and allegedly got out to join the fight. Police said he punched the 43-year-old victim multiple times.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Responding police found the brothers nearby and placed them under arrest. Both were arraigned Saturday morning at First District Court in Hempstead.

Jelony Conze pleaded not guilty. His bail was set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 insured bond or $125,000 partially secured surety bond, according to court records. His attorney information was not immediately available.

Adoni Omhari Conze also pleaded not guilty. A judge set his bail at $50,000 cash, $100,000 insured bond or $75,000 partially secured surety bond. His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
