The man accused of stabbing his mother to death in their Center Moriches home during a domestic dispute has been hospitalized, Suffolk County police said Sunday.

Christopher Storm Harrison, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the Friday night attack on Joyce Skarka, 53, in their Union Avenue house, Suffolk County police said.

Harrison had been scheduled for arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip, but he did not appear in court due to his hospitalization, police said.

Citing confidentiality, police declined to say why Harrison was in the hospital.

Neighbors of Harrison and Skarka said Saturday that they largely kept to themselves.

“We’d never see them out and about,” said Brian, a neighbor who declined to give his last name. Brian said he moved to the block in March and met Harrison a handful of times.

“He was very courteous,” the neighbor said.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
