Detectives on Friday charged a New Jersey man with attempted murder in the shooting of a man in a Glen Cove parking garage, police said.
Troy Timmons, 48, of Chesterfield Township, New Jersey, allegedly fired multiple shots at the 47-year-old victim, who suffered a bullet graze wound to his face as well as other trauma to his head and face, Nassau County police said on Friday.
Glen Cove police, initially responding to the report of shots fired at the garage at 200 Carney St., spotted Timmons running from the property — carrying a gun — around 11 a.m. Thursday, Nassau police said.
He was arrested after a short foot chase, authorities said.
The victim was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries and is listed in critical condition, police said.
Timmons also was taken to the hospital for shortness of breath, authorities said. Police did not release his condition.
In addition to the attempted-murder charge, Timmons faces one count of criminal possession of a weapon. Police said he would be arraigned when “medically practical.”
Det. Capt. John Azzata, commanding officer of the Nassau County Police Homicide Squad, said on Thursday that the victim was “targeted,” but investigators have neither announced a motive for the shooting nor released the victim’s name.
The wounded man is a resident of the building where the shooting happened, officials said.
