Cedarhurst brothers Daniel, Jacob, Dov Avital charged with beating, robbing jewelry seller
Three Cedarhurst brothers were charged with assaulting a man attempting to sell a bracelet, after they allegedly lured him into their home, beat him with a baseball bat and stole his belongings, Nassau County police said.
A 31-year-old man trying to sell his bracelet at 5 Towns Jewelry Buyers at 589 Willow Ave. in Cedarhurst around 2:30 p.m. called the number listed for the store, but was told it was under renovation and to come instead to a Redwood Drive home.
Once the man arrived at the house, three men approached him. They grabbed him, dragged him into the house and struck him with a closed fist and baseball bat, causing minor injuries, police said.
The men also threatened him with a sledgehammer, placing the man in fear of his life, police said.
The attackers then took his iPhone, bracelet and driver’s license and the man fled.
A short time later, officers arrested three men.
Daniel Avital, 36, Jacob Avital, 40, and Dov Avital, 31, are charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
They were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead
Police did not say if the brothers were employees of the jewelry store.
5 Towns Jewelry Buyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
