Joseph Kirincic, of Deer Park, facing child sex performance charges

Suffolk County police officers arrested and charged a Deer Park man Tuesday afternoon with allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material.

About 3 p.m., detectives with the department's Digital Forensics Unit, along with officers from the First Precinct, executed a search warrant at the home of Joseph Kirincic, 51, the police said in a news release late Tuesday.

The investigation resulted in the discovery of alleged child sexual abuse material on Kirincic's cellphone, police said in the release.

Kirincic was also "exchanging child sexual abuse material through a messaging application," the release said.

Officers arrested Kirincic at his home and charged him with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, police said.

Kirincic pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip, court records show. He was released with nonmonetary conditions, according to the records, which did not specify the bail terms.

Police opened an investigation into Kirincic following tips from the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, one of 61 that operate under the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program. The national program comprises 5,400 federal, state and local law enforcement and prosecution agencies.
