North Amityville girl, 16, shot during dispute, Suffolk police say

A verbal clash between "two groups of females" in North Amityville led to a 16-year-old girl getting shot in the leg Wednesday evening, Suffolk police said.
The two groups were arguing on Cahill Street when one of the females fired a handgun at approximately 8:35 p.m., police said.
"Everyone involved in the dispute, except the victim, fled the scene before police arrived," the police said in a statement.
The victim, who is from North Amityville, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
