Two people were shot, one left critically wounded by a shot to the head, while sitting inside a parked car in Wyandanch on Friday night, Suffolk police said.

The drive-by shooting, which police believed was targeted, took place on Winter Avenue near Washington Avenue at 11:17 p.m.

A 26-year-old man from Babylon and a 25-year-old woman from East Patchogue were inside the car parked on Winter Avenue when, police said, a vehicle pulled up alongside the passenger side and fired, striking the man in the head and the woman in her right arm.

The woman drove to a hospital with the man, who was in critical condition. The woman was treated and released. Police said the shooter took off.

Police ask anyone with information to contact First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
