John W. MilnorProfessor
John W. Milnor of Old Field has received the Leroy P. Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the American Mathematical Society for "overall achievements in the field and influence on mathematics in general." Milnor is a professor of mathematics and co-director of Stony Brook University's Institute for Mathematical Sciences and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He has also written several books on math theories and has spent the past 25 years exploring dynamical systems.
