Lorna Role of Port Jefferson has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for her "distinguished contributions" in neuroscience. Role is a professor and chair of the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at Stony Brook University, co-director of the university's Institute of Advanced Neurosciences, and a member of the Centers for Molecular Medicine's Central Nervous System Disorders Center. Her current work focuses on further dissecting the role of cholinergic signaling in circuits and behaviors related to emotional salience in learning and memory.
