Third Squad detectives are searching for the three men who assaulted an employee of a Mineola doughnut shop as they robbed it of an undetermined amount of cash Wednesday morning, Nassau County police said.

A lone employee, a 44-year-old man, at Dunkin' Donuts, 265 E. Jericho Tpke., let three men in through the back door at about 1:17 a.m., police said. The employee told police he thought another worker was knocking on the door.

The three men then forced the man to the basement office, where they collected cash from a desk and cabinet, police said.

At the same time, the employee thought one of the men was pressing a gun into his back, according to a news release by police.

The suspects disabled the video surveillance system, police said, and threw the employee to the floor, causing him to hit his head and lose consciousness.

The injured employee was taken to a hospital for treatment and observation, police said. There was no further information on his injuries.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
